According to the GMCH findings, the Zubeen Garg post-mortem report confirms drowning as the cause of death, putting an end to speculation and conspiracy theories about poisoning.
Shockwaves hit the music world as Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) confirmed that Zubeen Garg did not die from poisoning. The post-mortem report found no toxic substances in his body. It officially states that the singer’s tragic death was due to drowning.
This revelation directly claims made by Zubeen’s band member Shekhar Jyoti Goswami. He alleged that Zubeen might have been poisoned by Shyamkanu Mahanta and Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma, which sparked major controversy and fueled the Special Investigation Team’s probe.
Sources reported that forensic tests in New Delhi found no signs of poison. While there were minor external injuries noted, they were not severe enough to cause death. An anonymous official confirmed, “The injuries did not contribute to his death.”
The GMCH report supports findings from the first autopsy in Singapore, which also concluded that drowning was the cause of death, ending weeks of speculation about foul play.
Zubeen Garg, beloved across Northeast India and beyond, passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 19. Following his death, two autopsies were conducted: one in Singapore and the second at GMCH before his cremation on September 23.
The investigation has already led to multiple arrests, including seven main suspects: festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta, as well as Zubeen’s cousin and IPS officer Sandipan Garg, along with his two personal security officers.
With poisoning officially ruled out, the focus now shifts to figuring out how and why Zubeen Garg drowned. Fans continue to mourn the star whose voice touched millions of people.
