14-year-old Cricket Sensation Vaibhav to travel to Delhi for Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award, to join India U19 squad for World Cup preparations

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a batting talent of just 14 years of age, won’t be playing for Bihar during their match against Manipur and won’t be playing in the remainder of the Vijay Hazare Trophy Tournament either, according to Vaibhav’s childhood coach, Manish Ojha. It seems that he has received an invitation to receive the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award in Delhi for his remarkable performance in cricket and for breaking all previous records during the current tournament.

The event will be organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu will felicitate the awardees. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to take a meeting with children who would be honored for their achievements. Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is India’s highest civilian award for children aged five to eighteen years, given to talented children who have outstanding performances in different areas like bravery, art & culture, environment, innovation, science & technology, social service, and sports.

“Suryavanshi will not be taking part in the match as he has to report for an award function at 7 am. After this, Suryavanshi will join the U-19 Indian team to gear up for the U-19 World Cup scheduled to start on January 15 in Zimbabwe,” said Manish Ojha, coach of Suryavanshi, to the Hindustan Times.

“Vaibhav also will not be playing in today’s match since he is in Delhi for the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award function. That’s because he had to attend the function, and his reporting time was 7 AM,” Ojha added. The player was also confirmed to miss the rest of the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament in order to get in rhythm with the Indian Under-19 side for the World Cup. Suryavanshi will also be absent.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi started making a signing impact at the National level when he recorded an astonishing 190 off only 84 deliveries with the aid of 16 fours and 15 sixes while playing for Arunachal Pradesh. This performance enabled the team to register a world record total of 574 for 6 in 50 overs, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi being only the youngest centurion in List-A Cricket with the century being achieved in 36 balls.

While reaching this milestone, Suryavanshi also broke AB de Villiers’ record of the reaching fastest 150 in 10 deliveries less than AB de Villiers. He also holds a record in List-A cricket for hitting 15 sixes in an inning, which is a record for an Indian cricket player.

Vaibhav performances have been in the limelight for quite some time now, not just for the records that he has been shattering regularly, but for his potential to be a star in future inIndian cricket. His temperament, strokes, and maturity, for a player of just 14 years, have been highly appreciated.

With the Vijay Hazare Trophy suspended for him, the major aim for Suryavanshi will be to adjust to the Indian U-19 team and prepare for the World Cup through some warm-up matches. His earliest induction into international-level competition and the recognition he received through the national awards are considered to be key milestones in his development as a cricketer.

The outstanding performances by Suryavanshi in the national tournament and also his forthcoming performances in the U19 World Cup make him one of the most talented youngsters in cricket in India, and receiving an award at the national level acknowledges his role in cricketing at such a young age.
