SIT Team Heads for Singapore in Zubeen Garg Death Probe: CM Sarma Confirms Global Angle in Investigation

Zubeen Garg death probe

In the ongoing Zubeen Garg death probe, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the SIT team has departed for Singapore and will brief the media upon their return with crucial findings.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the mysterious death of cultural icon Zubeen Garg, will brief the media after its return from Singapore, where it is scheduled to hold key meetings with the Singapore Police Force.

“Let the team now reach Singapore. SIT Head, Munna Prasad Gupta will definitely brief the media when the team returns from Singapore,” Sarma told reporters.

“The team will only know the facts after they engage in discussion with the Singapore Police Force. The findings and the agenda of talks will be revealed before the media once they return.”

The SIT, led by ADGP, Munna Prasad Gupta, has left for Singapore today, marking a significant phase in the investigation into Zubeen Garg’s sudden and controversial death aboard a private yacht off the Singapore coast on September 19.

According to sources, the team will hold a crucial consultation with Singapore Police on Tuesday, focusing on retrieving and analyzing CCTV footage from the Pan Pacific Hotel, where Garg last stayed. Investigators will also collect and study food samples from the hotel as part of a broader forensic assessment.

A major point on the team’s agenda is the questioning of Wajid Ahmed, a Singaporean citizen who was reportedly one of the individual present on the yacht when Zubeen breathed his last. Despite being repeatedly summoned by the SIT in Guwahati, Ahmed has not cooperated with the probe so far, making him the only one among 11 Assamese expatriates who has failed to appear.

The SIT’s visit comes amid mounting speculation and public demand for transparency, with fans and admirers of the late singer across the country seeking clarity on the circumstances of his untimely demise.
