BJP MLAs from Manipur are set to discuss strategies with party president J.P. Nadda as they aim to form Manipur popular government in Manipur before November 20.

Deliberations on forming a popular government in Manipur have made good headway and according to sources, central leaders have assured BJP MLAs camping in Delhi, that a popular Government would be installed in the state soon.

BJP legislators from Manipur who are camping in New Delhi since October 4, met BJP Northeast Co-ordinator Sambit Patra and Manipur In-charge Ajit Gopchade at Manipur Bhawan, New Delhi yesterday and the leaders assured them that a people’s government will be set up in Manipur soon.

Enthused by the positive response of the central leaders, the MLAs have set November 20 as the target date to form the popular government.

To keep the pressure on and achieve their goal by the targeted date, the MLAs will meet BJP National President JP Nadda and other senior leaders of the party.

In yesterday’s meeting, sources said that Sambit Patra assured the BJP MLAs that a democratically elected popular Government would soon be installed in Manipur and he would convey their concerns to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Of the total 37 BJP MLAs, 25, including Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and Speaker Th. Satybrata, attended the meeting.

Five MLAs – Paonam Brojen, Th. Radheshyam, Y. Radheshyam, Md. Achabuddin and Rajen, skipped the meeting.

Sources informed Northeast Live that the five MLAs reportedly did not participate in several of the collective moves made by their colleagues, leading to dissatisfaction among the other members.
