From a Mumbai prodigy to World Cup hero, Jemimah Rodrigues is shaping the future of Indian cricket.
Indian cricket sensation Jemimah Rodrigues has quickly become one of the brightest stars in women’s cricket. Born on September 5, 2000, in Mumbai, Rodrigues was immersed in sports from a young age, encouraged by her coach and father, Ivan Rodrigues. Jemimah excelled not only in cricket but also played field hockey at the state level, representing Maharashtra in U-17 and U-19 hockey before focusing on cricket full-time.
Her rise was meteoric—by age 13, Jemimah was playing for Maharashtra’s Under-19 cricket team. She burst onto the national radar when she scored a record-breaking 202* in an Under-19 one-day domestic match in 2017, becoming only the second Indian woman after Smriti Mandhana to hit a double century in 50-over cricket.
Rodrigues made her international T20 debut for India in 2018 against South Africa, soon followed by her ODI debut against Australia. She solidified her reputation as a dependable middle-order batter and an occasional off-spinner. Jemimah has played key roles in global tournaments, including the 2025 World Cup win, the 2022 Asia Cup, and a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Domestically and internationally, she has been sought after in leagues: starring for Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League and big teams in the Women’s Big Bash League. Notably, in the 2025 World Cup semi-finals against Australia, Jemimah’s unbeaten 127 helped India create history with the highest successful run chase in Women’s World Cup history.
Jemimah Rodrigues combines on-field excellence with off-field charm and versatility, making music videos and connecting with fans through social media. At just 25, she continues to set records, inspire the next generation, and remain one of the most exciting faces of Indian sport.
