Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) supremo Hagrama Mohilary on Sunday took oath as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) for the fourth time at a ceremony held in Kokrajhar.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by State Chief Secretary Ravi Kota. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, several cabinet ministers, and a host of invited dignitaries and leaders.
Rihon Daimary was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Executive Member (Deputy CEM).
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Mohilary and expressed confidence that the new BTC administration would “serve the people with zeal and fulfill Bodofa Upendranath Brahma’s dream of a Shining Bodoland.”
He further assured that the Government of Assam would extend full support to the new BTC government in meeting the aspirations of the people.
The BTC elections, held on September 22, saw the BPF register a decisive victory, winning 28 seats in the 40-member council. The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) secured 7 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 5.
