Following the NDA government’s announcement of a series of welfare programmes for Bihar ahead of the upcoming State Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its outreach efforts. The party has successfully brought Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh back into the NDA fold and plans to field senior BJP leaders, including Union Ministers, in key constituencies to strengthen its prospects.
Separately, Mr. Kumar, who has had a chequered history with the BJP, was expelled from the party last year. His rebellion and subsequent candidature from Karakat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections contributed to the defeat of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), an NDA ally. RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha had expressed strong dissatisfaction over what he described as “sabotage” during the elections.
The BJP’s renewed campaign strategy appears focused on combining welfare measures with strategic alliances and high-profile leadership to consolidate its position in Bihar.
