Udaipur

GKM IT Private Limited also makes headlines after a woman manager levels allegations of gangrape against CEO Jeetesh Sisodia, executive head Shilpa Sirohi, and her husband after a birthday party at Udaipur, with dashcam footage being an important piece of evidence.

GKM IT Private Limited Udaipur, an IT firm based in Udaipur and owned by rape-accused Jeetesh Sisodia, had itself rated 4.7 out of 5 regarding women-friendliness criteria. The company made headlines after a female manager of the firm filed a complaint against its top officials for gang rape. This incident occurred earlier this month.

The woman has alleged CEO Jeetesh Sisodia and executive head Shilpa Sirohi, as well as Gaurav Sirohi, the husband of Shilpa Sirohi, of raping her in a party at Sisodia’s venue on the occasion of the birthday party. On the basis of the allegations made by the woman, a case was recorded at the police station Sukher against them.

According to the police, Sisodia threw a birthday party at a hotel in Udaipur on the 20th of December, and the complainant and other coworkers were present. It was during this party that the woman started feeling tipsy, as reported. It was revealed that the bystanders at the party decided to drop the woman home due to her condition.

However, it was alleged by the complaint that instead of being taken home, she was persuaded by a female executive to go to an after-party. According to the police, around 1.45 am, the woman was taken in a car in which Sisodia and the husband of the female executive named Gaurav were already present.

The suspect allegedly made several stops during the drive. The first stop made was allegedly at a shop where they acquired a substance looking like cigarette packets. The substance was then given to the woman. The woman allegedly lost consciousness shortly after taking the substance.

The female victim informed the police that she soon regained some consciousness and saw Sisodia molesting her. She also accused all three men of physically assaulting her while she was semi-conscious. Despite her pleas to be let homeways, the accused allegedly took her to their car and left her there for several hours, according to the complaint.

According to the woman, she was dropped at her home no later than 5 am. She further stated that when she finally regained consciousness, she found that she had lost earrings, socks, and underwear. She also stated that she saw injuries to private areas.

The cars involved in the alleged incident were equipped with dashcam systems that were capable of recording sound and video. It has been reported that the dashcam footage has become an integral part of evidence that will be used in the investigation. It has been asserted that it would be possible to validate the claims of the survivor based on the footage.

After this complaint was registered, the police have apprehended the CEO Jeetesh Sisodia, the executive head Shilpa Sirohi, and Gaurav. The accused have been presented in front of the local court on Thursday.

The accused were arrested after a case was registered at Sukher police station on charges framed by appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said. The arrested were produced in the court and sent to four days of police custody, he said.

The case is highlighted for its relevance to contrasts between charges levelled and assertions made by the company about work conditions for employees and women-friendly policies. GKM IT Private Limited had labeled itself as a “women-friendly” organization with a high rating on such aspects. According to the police, further investigation is ongoing, with more statements being collected. It was also reported that all evidence available, including dash cam footage, electronic records, and medical reports, was being reviewed.
