At Delhi Red Fort,2025

A powerful explosion was reported near the Red Fort area in Delhi on Monday evening, which created a sense of panic in the minds of the people. The nature of the explosion is yet to be ascertained. According to police sources, the blast occurred in a slow-moving vehicle, which came to a halt at the traffic signal near the metro station.

Several cars were damaged due to this explosion and many others were injured. Following the blast, the area was immediately sealed and the Anti-Terror Squad, Delhi Police Special Cell, and several other security agencies reached the spot to assess the situation. The reason behind this explosion is yet to be ascertained, and officials have not ruled out any possibility at this stage. The Red Fort blast adds to a long list of explosion incidents that have shaken India in the past decade.

Rameshwaram Cafe blast in 2024

A bomb blast injured ten people at the Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru’s Brookfield area on March 1, 2024. Investigation later revealed that the explosion had been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device.

Explosion in Bhopal-Ujjain Passenger Train, 2017

In March 2017, an explosion occurred aboard the Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train in Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur district. The blast took place in a general coach between 9:30 am and 10 am near Jabdi station. This shattered the windowpanes and smoke filled the coach as panicked passengers rushed out for safety. The train was brought to a stop after the blast.

Bodhgaya blast, 2013

Terror struck one of the holiest Buddhist shrines in Bihar’s pilgrimage town of Bodhgaya on 7th July 2013. A series of blasts took place inside the complex of the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Two monks were injured. Investigations later revealed that all five accused were members of the banned terror group Indian Mujahideen.

Hyderabad twin blasts, 2013

On February 21, 2013, twin blasts in Hyderabad’s Dilsukhnagar area killed 18 people and injured 131 others. The second blast went off seconds after the first near a grocery store in the same area. Later, the cases were transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for a detailed probe.

Mumbai triple blasts, 2011

On July 13, 2011, three coordinated blasts shook Mumbai’s Dadar, Zaveri Bazaar, and Opera House areas, killing 27 people and injuring over 100. The Maharashtra ATS subsequently charged 11 individuals, including alleged members of the Indian Mujahideen, with conspiracy to carry out the coordinated attack.

Delhi serial bomb blasts, 2008

On September 13, 2008, a string of bomb blasts ripped through several areas of Delhi: Karol Bagh, Connaught Place, and Greater Kailash. In these blasts, 26 persons were killed, and about 135 people were injured. As many as three live bombs were also recovered and defused by the police, which prevented further damage to property.

Mumbai train blasts, 2006

On July 11, 2006, Mumbai experienced one of its worst terror attacks when a series of bombs ripped through seven local trains on the Western line during evening rush hour. A total of 189 people were killed and 824 were injured. The bombs, placed inside pressure cookers.
