Honouring Courage: Tripura CM Manik Saha Pays Tribute to Brave Police Personnel for Their Supreme Sacrifice on Commemoration Day

Tripura joined the rest of the nation on Tuesday in solemnly observing Police Commemoration Day by paying homage to police and security personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty for the nation.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended the central observance at the Martyrs’ Park in AD Nagar, where a ceremonial gun salute was offered and floral tributes were paid to honour the memory of the fallen heroes.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said that between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025, a total of 191 security personnel across India made the supreme sacrifice while performing their duties. Among them, two were from Tripura — Sub-Inspector David Darlong of Tripura Police and trooper Elon Debbarma of the 8th Battalion Tripura State Rifles (TSR).

The Chief Minister met their family members and handed over gift packets as a token of respect and gratitude.

Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar, and other senior officials were also present at the event. Similar commemorative programmes were organised at various battalion headquarters and paramilitary force establishments across the state.

Observed annually on October 21, Police Commemoration Day marks the valour and sacrifice of ten CRPF personnel who were martyred in 1959 at Hot Springs in Ladakh following an attack by the Chinese Army.
