In a major development, Singapore police authorities have sent an important query to Assam Police regarding the Zubeen Garg death case, while Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hinted that encouraging news may arrive soon.

In a major development that could shed light on the mysterious death of Assam’s beloved son and legendary singer Zubeen Garg, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that Singapore authorities have sent a crucial query related to the ongoing probe and are expected to share detailed findings soon.

Speaking to media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Singapore authorities have taken the investigation very seriously. It is as active as the Assam government in the investigation. Singapore police have sent a vital query about Zubeen Garg to his family. We (the state government) have seen it and returned it to them. They want to give us a proper report after conducting the inquiry completely.”

The Chief Minister said that he is hopeful to receive good news soon, as the Assamese expatriates living in Singapore, including some who were reportedly present on the yacht on the day of Zubeen Garg’s death, have shown a positive response and may join the probe in Assam shortly.

“The Assamese expatriates from Singapore have shown a positive attitude and are most likely to be joining the probe in Assam soon. I am hopeful of receiving good news soon in a day or two,” CM Sarma added.

It is to be noted that all individuals who were present on the yacht with the late singer on that fateful day have been questioned multiple times, and a forensic probe of their mobile phones has been conducted.

Sources revealed that none of the witnesses have been allowed to leave Singapore without permission from the authorities. The Singapore Police are meticulously examining every detail, ensuring that all statements, samples, and digital evidence are properly verified and recorded.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Assam has also been conducting its own inquiry into the case.

The SIT had earlier issued notices to several Singapore expats, directing them to appear before the CID headquarters in Guwahati.

Among those summoned, only Rupkamal Kalita complied and presented himself before the SIT.

Fresh summons have been issued to Abhimanyu Talukdar, Tonmoy Phukan, Bhaskar Dutta, Debajyoti Hazarika, Siddhartha Bora, Parikshit Sharma, and Wajed Ahmed.
