In response to public outrage, film director Rajesh Bhuyan on Wednesday announced that scenes featuring individuals arrested in connection with the death of Zubeen Garg will be completely removed from the late singer’s final film, Roi Roi Binale.
The decision comes amid growing protests over the inclusion of Shekhar Jyoti Goswami (Zubeen’s bandmate), Siddharth Sharma (his manager), and Amrit Prabha Mahanta (co-singer), all of whom were recently taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the music icon’s untimely demise.
Bhuyan stated that they have heard the people, and will not do anything that causes hurt or discontent. Bhuyan stated that, Zubeen Garg always stood with the people, spoke for the people, and never did anything to displease them and that spirit will be honored.
The backlash intensified following the release of the emotionally charged song “Mur Mon” on Tuesday. Composed, written, and sung by Zubeen himself, the track has gone viral, amassing over 1.2 million views and 12,000 plus comments on YouTube in just 24 hours. Despite its popularity, viewers were quick to spot Shekhar’s appearance in the video, sparking a wave of online criticism and calls for his removal.
Bhuyan clarified that all footage involving the three arrested individuals will be edited out of the final cut before the film’s scheduled October 31 nationwide release.
Bhuyan reiterated that these changes are made not just to respect public sentiment, but also to protect the sanctity and legacy of Zubeen Garg’s final work.
Earlier, Bhuyan had urged fans to refrain from piracy and support the official release of Roi Roi Binale, stating that Zubeen was a vocal opponent of piracy and intellectual theft throughout his career.
