Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on September 22, where he will unveil development projects worth over ₹5,100 crore aimed at boosting renewable energy, connectivity, healthcare, tourism, and cultural preservation in the Northeast region.
Focus on Renewable Energy and Infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh
At Itanagar, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones of two major hydropower projects — the Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW) and the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW) — with a combined investment of ₹3,700 crore. Located in the Siyom sub-basin, these projects are expected to enhance Arunachal’s hydroelectric generation capacity and advance India’s sustainable energy goals.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation for a world-class Convention Center in Tawang, situated at an altitude of 9,820 feet. Designed to host over 1,500 delegates, the center will serve as a venue for international conferences, cultural events, and exhibitions, boosting tourism and cultural exchange in the frontier district.
In addition, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a series of infrastructure projects worth ₹1,290 crore, covering connectivity, healthcare, fire safety, and working women’s hostels, aimed at improving living standards and supporting economic growth.
As part of his push for ease of doing business, Modi is also expected to interact with local taxpayers, traders, and entrepreneurs to discuss the impact of recent GST rate rationalisation measures.
Temple Redevelopment and Cultural Revival in Tripura
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will travel to Tripura, where he will perform Puja and Darshan at the historic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Matabari, one of the 51 revered Shakti Peethas.
He will inaugurate the temple’s redevelopment under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive) scheme. The newly developed complex, designed in the shape of a tortoise, features improved pathways, renovated entrances, upgraded drainage, and a modern three-storeyed facility housing stalls, meditation halls, guest accommodations, and administrative offices.
Officials said the project will boost tourism, create employment opportunities, and strengthen Tripura’s socio-economic and cultural ecosystem while preserving its spiritual legacy.
