Vehicular movement along a stretch of National Highway-10 (NH-10) connecting Sevoke and Rangpo has been temporarily suspended due to a landslip and rockfall, officials said on Saturday (July 19, 2025).

According to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), the incident occurred near Birik Dara in Kalimpong district, West Bengal. The affected stretch has remained closed to all vehicles since 11 a.m. on Friday.

NHIDCL’s Siliguri office said that clearance operations are in progress, with heavy machinery deployed at the site. However, continuous rock and debris fall is hampering the restoration work.

Officials expect the route to reopen within 24 hours, subject to weather and safety conditions.

“Travellers are advised to exercise caution and check for real-time updates before planning their journey. NHIDCL continues to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as clearance progresses,” the agency said in a statement.
